Where once the road flowed gently into London, there is now an army of carbuncles waiting on the horizon, blocking off the distance and closing in the human spirit. And that army will creep ever closer, swallowing up the old communities, condemning their familiar homely buildings and imprisoning them within faceless glass walls.

I didn't know it when I took this shot, but one of my ancestors lived in this very location in the mid-nineteenth century. What would he have thought of today's nightmare view outside his door, with the Strata tower block rearing its ugly head and more carbuncles still erupting?
