Of course it's genuine. But we don't like "flatness" (do we?) Turn down the brightness by 1-2 stops, raise the contrast around 30%, and this will be a winner.

Consider - for once, I might be right.

Oh, you may well be. If you notice the date, you will see this is one of my oldies taken with my Finepix A405. In those days I also had an old computer with an over-dark monitor, and not realising this, I used to lighten them too much. I could, as you suggest, "improve" it by raising the contrast, but I like it this way, because it conveys (to me) a sense of naivety and nostalgia.

Improve, without inverted commas.

It's a coincidence, because all of my uploaded pictures looked right on the monitor I had at the time, and those of them that now look flat, or gaudy and unnatural, or cause Exotropia, or are otherwise "D" rated, I like just the way they are, because they convey to me something special.
