Spartus Rocket

Spartus Rocket

A cheap plastic camera released from a company in Chicago around 1962. The knob to wind the film to the next frame came out mid-roll, so I only got to take three pictures with this camera so far. I probably won't use it again, but who knows for sure?

Another camera I picked up used in the late 1970's. For the longest time, I didn't pay attention and thought it said "Spartacus."

Macedonia

This is the Macedonia Baptist Church, located in Sacramento, Illinois. (A little un-incorporated area about 3 miles from Norris City.) I just found out that Efke is going out of business and shutting down operations and I will be saddened to see them go. I really liked their R100 films. It's been a bad year for film. Camera: Spartus Rocket Film: Efke R 100 ASA 127 black and white film Date: October 10th, 2011, 4.42 p.m. Location: Sacramento, Illinois, U.S.A. Developing process, chemicals were at 68 degrees: Ilford ID-11: 8 mins. Water stop bath: 1 min. (Efke suggests this and it worked.) Ilford Hypam fixer: 8 mins. Water rinse: 5 mins. Kodak Photo-Flo 200: 1 min. Efke2 01gf

Honeymoon Cottage

I've passed by this house for almost 40 years and it wasn't until just before my Dad died that I found out from him that this house was the first place his younger brother, Deon, lived when he got married for the first time in the early 1960's. This is one of the shots taken with my Spartus Rocket, which I acquired in the 1970's. This is the first chance I've had to use it and, in doing so, the film advance knob broke after three frames. I had to finish the roll in another camera. But, at least I finally got to use the camera. Camera: Spartus Rocket Film: Efke R 100 ASA 127 black and white film Date: October 31st, 2011, 3.35 p.m. Location: Between Brownsville and Norris City, Illinois, U.S.A. Developing process, chemicals were at 68 degrees: Ilford ID-11: 8 mins. Water stop bath: 1 min. (Efke suggests this and it worked.) Ilford Hypam fixer: 8 mins. Water rinse: 5 mins. Kodak Photo-Flo 200: 1 min. Efke2 02ff

Keep Manhattan Just Give Me That Countryside

An old barn outside Norris City. I've photographed it since the 1970s. The winding knob came out right after this shot, so I didn't get to finish the roll in this camera.
