Netherlands - Hargen aan Zee
Hargen aan Zee is a beach that belongs to the municipality of Bergen in North Holland in the Netherlands. It is located at the northern end of the dunes of Schoorl.

This photo shows our Jack Russell Terrier Rico. He loves to play with his ball at the beach.

I have added three PIP's showing pictures of Rico at beaches:

The topleft PIP was taken in June 2014 in Cadzand in the Netherlands. It shows Rico sitting in a hole he dug himself.

The PIP in the middle was taken in Nymindegab in Denmark in July 2013. On this photo Rico is just resting after he has played with his ball.

The top right picture shows Rico in action in November 2010 at the beach of Nieuwvliet in the Netherlands.

Dünenerhöhung ist ein gutes Stichwort. In einem Großprojekt zwischen 2013 und 2015 wurden in dem Küstenabschnitt von Hargen aan Zee, wo dieses Foto entstanden ist, bis Petten ein paar Kilometer weiter nördlich künstlich neue Dünen und ein breiter Sandstrand angelegt. Die neuen Dünen sind dem schon vorher bestehenden Deich vorgelagert und dienen zusammen mit dem neuen flach abfallenden Sandstrand der Verbesserung des Hochwasserschutzes. Im Rahmen des Projektes wurden etwa 35 Millionen Kubikmeter Sand vorgespült. Näheres zu dieser Methode des Hochwasserschutzes kann man auch hier nachlesen:

Bei dieser "Dünenerhöhung" war Rico seinerzeit aber nicht beteiligt. :-)
