All the writer had to do was put a full stop after 'stairs' or could have better used 'Hold onto the handrail while using the stairs.'

I can understand the irritation Graham but sadly, as Roger says, too many of us wouln't even notice. The sign is there for the benefit of our health - even if the wording raises our blood pressure!!!!
