You have a knack of finding the most wires and traffic signals in town, or photographing such to make them look like a driver's nightmare!

Thanks, Bob. Toronto is full of corners like this. Although I like photographing the wires, it would make sense to put the power lines underground. The cost saved from not having to restore power to large sections of the city after an ice storm, say, would probably outweigh the cost in a few years. But no --:Toronto never does things that have been successful elsewhere until they've figured out a way to screw it up. There is a program to put the power lines underground, but it's tiny.

Toronto doesn't like to make things easy for visitors, Jaap.

I love the way the yellow backing of the traffic lights catches and leads the eye through the scene, John. All the best, Joe

Thanks, Joe. That's also one of the practical advantages of yellow-backed traffic lights on crossbars. I like how they form a proscenium at every street corner framing the backdrop ahead.

What was it I was saying about the "myriad of signs, traffic lights, wires, poles etc" a few photos back?

I rest my case!

Seriously.........an amazingly detailed and colourful shot John, with lots to look at. I'm just glad I don't have to drive around in Toronto :-))

Thanks, Keith. Your comment reminds me of when I was in Newcastle Upon Tyne. I remarked to a local that Newcastle drivers didn't honk at pedestrians who cross against a red light (as they do in Toronto, among other things) and he said that was because the signalling in Newcastle was so confusing no one was ever sure who had the right of way. So be warned.

Thank you, Rainer. You reminded me that I was struck by the similarity between the jungle and the city while reading a book by Ferdinand Oyono.
