Die Festung Mont-Louis liegt auf ca. 1600m Höhe in den französischen Pyrenäen, Erbaut am Ende des 17. Jahrhundert vom französischem "Star"architekt der Festungsbauer, Sébastien Vauban. Sie beschützte eine strategisch wichtigen Verkehrsweg in den Pyrenäen zwischen Spanien und Frankreich. Die französischen Streitkräfte beutzen sie mittlerweile seit 1964.
