Hot Springs, SD historic train depot, now used as a visitors bureau. Built in 1891, it is so narrow due to the limited space in the ravine. There is a picture of it from the early 1900's on the visitors bureau website:

One of many signs seen throughout the Devils Tower National Monument asking that park users not disturb prayer cloths and bundles placed by those who consider the towers to be a spiritual location. This is on a trail NNW of the tower.

The columns that make up Devils Tower are mostly 6 sided. At the base of the trees here is a fallen column that illustrates the geometric evenness of the columns.

Difficult to capture in a photograph from below is the height of the tower, which is 867 feet from its base. Later pictures of climbers on the tower are good for illustrating the height.

The trail around Devils Tower. As this indicates, the trail was not very busy. While the park gets quite a bit of traffic, the number of visitors who hike completely around the tower is small.

Devils Tower is the first National Monument, established in 1906. All of the buildings (including this center), paths, and roads were constructed by the the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) between 1935 and 1938.

Inside the Devils Monument visitor's center, which was constructed by the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps). The picture of the gigantic bear climbing the tower is apparently an interpretation of Native American myths regarding the tower.
