View from Market and Noe towards Twin Peaks. Depending on your perspective, this is either a picture of Twin Peaks, a picture of one of the centers of gay life, or a picture of the garrison-size rainbow flag at Castro & Market.

Walnut Grove Bridge, Sacramento Delta

The delta is largely a farming area, but as the marinas on both sides of the river indicate, the area is quite popular for boating. A long bascule bridge at Walnut Grove.

Bakersfield, Fox theatre
Bakersfield is the largest city in the southern portion of the Central Valley, on CA-99. There is good historical preservation in the old downtown area. The former Fox theatre is a used as a civic auditorium, though still shows some films.
Carrizo Plain National Monument

Of course, as a relatively unused national monument (and very much understaffed), there is junk.
