Sacramento Delta J-Mack ferry (#1203)

Sacramento Delta J-Mack ferry (#1203)
The J-Mack ferry between Grand Island and Ryer Island in the Delta. The ferry is considered to be an extension of CA-220 and is operated by CalTrans, with no fee. On this trip the ferry on the other side of Ryer island was closed for repairs, thus I had to cross and come back.

Is such a ferry common in the US?

Previously in my country.
There are only memorial stone monuments and remains.
(Now there is a ferry for ordinary people, only in the city in Japan.)

We actually have ferries like that scattered around the country, though not nearly as many as we used to. I know there's some in Washington and Idaho andI'm in the Midwest right now and will be using a ferry like that, across the Ohio river, next week.

I had plans to ride that one when I was in the Portland area a couple of years ago, but it was shut down for some reason.
