Edinburgh Royal Mile / consumerism (#0434)
I debated whether to give any attention to the Royal Mile that runs downhill from Edinburgh Castle. On the one hand, it is marketed as the sorts of tourist-oriented shops and restaurants that I don’t enjoy, but also the buildings are historic and it was only a mile -- so I decided to risk it.
At the top of the Royal Mile, close to the Edinburgh Castle, “The Scotch Whiskey Experience”. I used to occasionally enjoy a drink of a good scotch, but with age I find that alcohol wipes out my day, so not a place to visit at 11AM, the time I took this picture. Still, though, an attractively restored building.
