Clarkdale, AZ Verde Canyon RR (# 0482)

Clarkdale, AZ Verde Canyon RR (# 0482)
I was cutting through Central Arizona because I wanted to see two things (and to avoid freeways): Jerome (more on that later) and the Verde Canyon Railroad.

The Verde Canyon Railroad is a tourist railroad operating over tracks that once connected the copper smelter in Clarksdale to the Santa Fe railroad. The rolling stock of the Verde Canyon are refurbished equipment once used on other lines with the locomotives being formerly used on the Alaska Railroad.

The trip on the Verde Canyon RR is definitely worth it, if you didn't make it.

Their train for that day was canceled due to low interest. I think the problem was that there were major fires in other parts of Arizona that were making travel difficult from other areas.
