Berlin Wall Memorial (#2493)

The wall initially started out as a single wall, but the East Germans found that a single wall didn't work and kept expanding it over the years to eventually include two walls and a series of guard towers. A series of photos later illustrates this quite well. This picture gives an indication of the width of what became knows as the 'death strip' (space between the outer and inner wall).
