Dunsmuir, CA turntable (1107)
Locomotive turntable in Dunsmuir. The turntable was built in 1897 and from what I could find this is the same turntable only slightly modfied. The roundhouse no longer exists; I saw no information regarding when the structure in the middle of the turntable was added. Apparently the turntable was in use up until fairly recently.

I don't remember ever seeing a turntable anyplace other than historic photographs.

Until I saw the one in LA a few years ago, I'd also assumed they were history. But, if you search on 'active railroad turntables' it looks like there's a number of them still in use.
