Campbell Highway 606a1
East of Faro was Ross River, a very small community in a very pretty area.
The guidebook that I was using said that there was a gas station in Ross River, but when I got there at about 8PM, it was closed. I looked at the maps and my gas gauge, and figured that I could easily make the distance from Ross River to the next campground in Watson Lake. It turned out, however, to be one of the most frightening drives of the trip. The Campbell highway was mostly a graded road, but east of Ross River parts of it were very narrow, sometimes narrowing down to little more than a rutted dirt road. Since there were no signs and I was getting tired, I started having fears that somehow I had missed a turn and was actually off the highway. Since I passed no cars for about 150 miles, I had no one to ask and began to fear that I might be lost. Lluckily, however, just as the gas tank was getting close to registering 'empty', I saw the lake and the campground.
