Oroville Bidwell Bar Suspension Bridge (0128)
Bidwell Bar Suspension Bridge on Lake Oroville. The bridge was dedicated in 1965, the Lake Oroville reservoir is part of the State Water Project. The reservoir provides water for the California Aqueduct that supplies agricultural and urban needs; the reservoir is also connected to a hydro-electric facility and provides flood control and recreation. Note the solid line on the plaque that graphically depicts the flow of water from north to south.

The Rube Goldberg machine that is the vast collection of California water diversions has long been a fascination of mine. It's part of why I have very conflicted feelings about that state.

I think we're just more explicit about it, the machinations for water supply are bizarre for much of the world. And, don't get me started on the Corp of Engineers and the creation of navigable rivers in the Midwest and South....
