Children -- and grownups, too -- turned out on a hot and sunny September day to see who was best at riding a skateboard around a kind of empty swimming pool place created for the purpose. All, amazingly, survived.

This kid was incredibly precise and exacting. I remember him delivering his father's expensive camera -- crossing the course on his skateboard. He rides a skateboard better than I walk!
