Thursday 19 December 2013 (1041) - Two Stagecoach (United Counties) vehicles operating the X5 service pass in St Neots High Street/Market Place. The double decker is 10013 (AE12 CKF), an ADL Enviro400 bodied Trident new in May 2012 (to Stagecoach (Viscount)). The Plaxton bodied Volvo coach is 53603 (KX58 NBL) new in January 2009. The X5 is normally worked by these specifically branded coaches although I have noted more double deckers on occasional workings of late. Note the decker carries a ‘Bedford bus’ logo. Most X5 vehicles are based at Bedford garage.

Tuesday 4 February 2014 (1252) - Norfolk Green 611 (X249 VWR), seen in Market Street, Ely when working the 1255 departure of the Ely town circular branded ‘AbsolutELY’. New in December 2000 (as an Optare Demonstrator?). This well respected operator was taken over by Stagecoach on 17 December 2013. Rumours as I write, say that the Norfolk Green identity is to remain rather than the Stagecoach corporate identity being applied. I believe Stagecoach national fleet number 47881 would be assigned to this bus. Norfolk Green names its buses after local personalities - William‘Turkey’ Smart (1830-1919) was an agricultural labourer born in Welney who achieved local fame as a champion Fenland skater winning 13 contests in 1855 alone. His prize money for that months skating equated to two years wages at his regular job.

Monday 7 July 2014 (1302) - The Tour de France cycle race set forth from Cambridge today which saw major disruption to bus services and general traffic. Most of the roads used by the Citi 7 service (Cambridge to Sawston, Pampisford and Saffron Walden) were affected which resulted in a special service for this day only linking Sawston and the Babraham Road Park and Ride Site. Stagecoach ADL Trident/Enviro400 19164 (MX07 HNF) had just arrived at the old White Horse pub, Sawston which is now a private house. It is not unusual to see Citi 7 buses terminate here as part of the normal schedule. This bus entered service with Stagecoach Manchester in August 2007.

Tuesday 26 August 2014 (1158 despite what the clock tower shows) - On 17 December 2013 the Stagecoach Group bought the Norfolk Green business and rather than apply the full Stagecoach corporate identity a green and silver variation on the corporate theme was introduced. Optare Solo MX55 WCU, now carrying group fleet number 47896, was seen in Wisbech bus station working town service 66. Norfolk Green had a tradition of naming its buses after notable local people. This bus is named Charlotte Pearson Boyd a wealthy local woman that bought and renovated the Slipper Chapel at Walsingham allowing it to be re-established as a Catholic shrine in 1897.

Wednesday 27 August 2014 (1230) - Stagecoach East (Cambus) 15957 (YN14 OXH), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in May 2014 just before service 13/13A were upgraded to Stagecoach's 'Gold' standard (1 June 2014?). This bus would have first left Drummer Street bus station (Cambridge) at 0955 as service 13 passing through Haverhill bus station at 1106. It then worked as a circular route via Millfields Way returning to Haverhill bus station to become the 1129 service 13A back to Drummer Street arriving at 1238. The difference between service 13 and 13A is when the buses enter and leave Haverhill, the 13 serves Arrendene Road and the 13A serves Chimswell Way. The X13 is a peak hour service operating into Cambridge in the morning peak and returning from Cambridge in the evening peak faster omitting some of the villages and remaining on the main road. 15957 was photographed on Hills Road, Cambridge from the upper deck of 19585 (AE10 BWW) working the 1117 service from Saffron Walden.
