Saturday 24 March 2012 (0735) - Lochs and Glens SN09 AZV, a Van Hool Acron bodied Volvo B12BT new in March 2009, picks up Scottish bound tour passengers in the morning mist at Bury St Edmunds bus station. This coach is named ‘Glen Lyon’. The Scottish based company specialises in holidays at six of its own hotels. Between 1999 and 2019 the coaches in the Lochs & Glens fleet were tri-axle Volvos with Jonckheere bodywork. However, for just one year (2009) the intake of five coaches unusually had Van Hool T9 Acron bodywork. After Jonckheere bodywork ceased to be available Lochs & Glens has chosen Volvo 9700 integral coaches. In addition to its own fleet the company also employs a small number of contracted operators.

Lochs and Glens Holidays FJ06 BSV, a Jonckheere Mistral bodied tri-axle Volvo B12B new in March 2006, seen at the Burtons Coaches yard in Haverhill. Not quite sure why it was there but I surmised it had perhaps been loaned to cover a problem with one of Burtons Lochs and Glens liveried coaches.

Monday 20 November 2017 (0859) – A scene in Mildenhall bus station. From left to right are Smith’s Coaches of Blofield FP51 EUN, a Jonckheere Mistral bodied Volvo B12M that had been new to Lochs & Glens in January 2002 which was covering a tour feeder for Shearings Holidays; Mulleys Motorways YN54 NXK, a Scania N94UD OmniCity new in December 2004 as Nottingham City Transport number 222); Coach Services of Thetford. SN63NBB, an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro200 new in September 2013 ready to work the 0915 service 201 to Thetford; and Mulleys Motorways CN06 BXJ, an Optare Solo M920 (9.2 metre long) model. I surmised that it had covered the first part of the 357 school service duty and was now being substituted by the OmniCity. There aren’t usually two single deckers around at this time. The Solo was new to Bebb Travel, Llantwit Fadre, South Wales in April 2006. The coach would normally have picked up on the now vacant stand 1 which had been occupied by another as it arrived.

Saturday 10 June 2017 (1119) – Angel Executive Travel of High Wycombe L16 AET, a Jonckheere Mistral bodied Volvo. I believe this is Volvo B12M that was new to Lochs and Glens as FN52 HRP in February 2003. It was seen during a refreshment stop at the ‘Pancake and Waffle Shack’ on the A11 at Barton Mills. This was the former AJ’s Restaurant which later became a Little Chef before closing.
