Service 141 in Nottinghamshire

In July 2022 Trent Barton (trentbarton) announced its intention to withdraw operation of service 141 which passes through Blidworth where my younger daughter has lived since 2016. The buses on the service have featured in a number of my photographs and have been very much part of my visits to Blidworth.

The service has an unusual layout operating from Nottingham to Sutton-in-Ashfield via a circuitous route serving Hucknall, Blidworth, Rainworth and Mansfield.

Travelling north out of Nottingham in the direction of Ravenshead it first detours to Bestwood village (making an out and back run from the main road) before making a sweeping circuit of Hucknall leaving the main road at Papplewick re-joining it some 0.4 miles further along the main road almost 20 minutes later. From Ravenshead the service then travels via Blidworth and Rainworth to reach Mansfield - the direct route is 3.5 miles but the 141 journey is about 8.5 miles.

As a result of concerns about the loss of the service raised by a prominent local councillor, in mid-August 2022 Nottinghamshire County Council announced that Stagecoach East Midlands would take over operation of the service from 5 September 2022 for a twelve month period maintaining the same timetable.

The service requires four Mansfield based buses to run the hourly service operated six days a week.
