Sunday 21 September 1997 – Dews Coaches of Somersham UFX 360L seen at Showbus, Duxford. It is a Plaxton Panorama Elite bodied Bedford VAL70 new in February 1973 to Sea View Coaches of Parkstone, Dorset.

Thursday 22 February 2018 (0948) – Dews Coaches of Somersham S662 JSE seen at Peterborough Services on the A1 whilst on driver training duties. It is a Jonckheere Modulo bodied Volvo B10M-62 that had been new to Stagecoach Bluebird (662) in October 1998. It became fleet number 52612 in the Stagecoach Group fleet numbering.

Thursday 22 February 2018 (0950) – Dews Coaches of Somersham S662 JSE seen at Peterborough Services on the A1 whilst on driver training duties. It is a Jonckheere Modulo bodied Volvo B10M-62 that had been new to Stagecoach Bluebird (662) in October 1998. It became fleet number 52612 in the Stagecoach Group fleet numbering.

Dews Coaches of Somersham S662 JSE, a Jonckheere Modulo bodied Volvo B10M-62, in use as a driver trining vehicle. It had been new to Stagecoach Bluebird (662) in October 1998 becoming fleet number 52612 in the Stagecoach Group fleet numbering.

Wednesday 30 November 2011 (1523) – Dews Coaches of Somersham Van Hool coach seen outside the Swimming Pool in Mildenhall. A number of the company’s coaches have registration numbers featuring the letters DEW. This is DEW 1V which I believe was new to Eassons Coaches of Southampton in April 1993 registered K73 OOW.

A number of the company’s coaches have registration numbers featuring the letters DEW. This is 62 DEW which I believe was new to the company in February 2003 registered BJ03 JHX.

A number of the company’s coaches have registration numbers featuring the letters DEW. This is 62 DEW which I believe was new to the company in February 2003 registered BJ03 JHX.

Monday 4 January 2010 (1320) – Ron W. Dew and Son Limited of Somersham operates the Cambridgeshire County Council supported service 106 from Ely to Cottenham and Rampton, a service I once drove on when Burtons operated the service and was one of my favourites. Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart BU52 ELY turns from Newnham Street into Market Street, Ely arriving as the 1240 service from Cottenham. It would then work the 1328 service to Rampton via Witcham, Haddenham, Aldreth, Wilburton and Cottenham. The electronic destination screen scrolls through different displays to show the various villages on the route and is already set for its next run and at this moment was showing Wilburton, Haddenham and Witcham. The registration number of the bus is BU52 ELY cannily spaced BU5 2 ELY to read ‘Bus to Ely’. (www.dews-coaches.com).

It was one of my favourites. Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart BU52 ELY stands in Market Street, Ely about to work the 1328 service to Rampton via Witcham, Haddenham, Aldreth, Wilburton and Cottenham. Thursday 16 April 2015 (0858) - Dews Coaches of Somersham, Cambridgeshire operates the 'Ely Zipper' circular bus service which links the city of Ely with the villages of Witcham, Haddenham, Wilburton, Stretham and Little Thetford. The regular bus is a Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart sporting registration number BU52 ELY which, quite imaginatively spaced, declares the message BUS 2 ELY. I have read that this vehicle previously carried registrations MB04 BZH and B1 JYM, the latter number plate was one of Jim Stones cherished plates). I was lucky with this shot. I had been poised for a time waiting to photograph the bus travelling through the surroundings of the village of Wilburton when, as often can be the case, a stupid pedestrian without regard of the presence of anyone else, just had to walk across my camera aim. A quick re-adjust I snapped it. It came out as a half decent bus shot rather than a scenic shot featuring the bus.

Thursday 16 April 2015 (0858) - Thursday 16 April 2015 (0858) - Dews Coaches of Somersham, Cambridgeshire operates the 'Ely Zipper' circular bus service which links the city of Ely with the villages of Witcham, Haddenham, Wilburton, Stretham and Little Thetford. The regular bus is a Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart sporting registration number BU52 ELY which, quite imaginatively spaced, declares the message BUS 2 ELY. I have read that this vehicle previously carried registrations MB04 BZH and B1 JYM, the latter number plate was one of Jim Stones cherished plates). The service began on 3 November 2014 eplacing an Ely-Cottenham service (106) which had latterly also been operated by Dew's. Operating six days a week there are six trips running anti-clockwise until lunchtime and five trips running clockwise during the afternoon. On Thursdays, which is market day in Ely, one trip in the morning and one trip in the early afternoon diverts to serve the small village of Aldreth.

Thursday 16 April 2015 (0856) - The 'Ely Zipper' circular bus service began on 3 November 2014 linking the city of Ely with the villages of Witcham, Haddenham, Wilburton, Stretham and Little Thetford replacing an Ely-Cottenham service (106). Dews Coaches of Somersham operates the service. This bus stop sign is located in Wilburton, the vertical lines contain the names of the main villages on the route.

Sunday 25 July 2021 (1044) – The Fenland Busfest at Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire. The rally is held in the town centre occupying Market Street (seen here) and Broad Street with the rally control/bus ride departures centred on the Market Place. Dew’s Coaches of Somersham BU52 ELY, a Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart. Once a regular bus on services in the Ely area the registration number creatively represents ‘BUS 2 ELY’. (I have read that this vehicle previously carried registrations MB04 BZH and B1 JYM, the latter number plate was one of Jim Stones cherished plates). GCK 279S, a Plaxton Supreme bodied Bedford YLQ new in March 1978 to Florance and Grange, Morecambe. Preserved.

Friday 29 June 2018 (1043) – Dews Coaches of Somersham V49 MOA seen in St. Ives bus station. It is a Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TL that had been new to West Midlands Travel (4049) in November 1999.

Friday 9 March 2018 (1235) – Dews Coaches of Somersham YW14 FHT seen in Minster Place in Ely when working the 1230 ‘Ely Zipper’ circular service to Witcham, Haddenham, Wilburton and Stretham which arrives back in Ely at 1320. It is an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro200 new in July 2014 to Henderson Travel of Blantyre, Lanarkshire. The trials and tribulations of a bus photographer. This was intended to be the first of two or three clicks of the camera to get a suitable shot of the bus in its working environment. As it transpired it became the best of what I managed to get as a result of two obstacular pedestrians strolling straight in front of me at quite the wrong moment. After experiencing this situation many times over many years I am used to it but it still totally, totally infuriating!

Monday 7 August 2017 (1235) – Dews Coaches of Somersham YY15 NJN entering Minster Place in Ely when working 1230 ‘Ely Zipper’ circular service to Witcham, Haddenham, Wilburton and Stretham which arrives back in Ely at 1320. An Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro200 new in June 2015. A nice clean bus but not as striking as the dark green coaches operated by Dew’s.
