Tuesday 6 August 2019 – Libertybus (CT Plus Jersey Limited) is part of the London based HCT Group and was awarded the contract to operate the public bus network on Jersey in January 2013. At its formation Libertybus placed 33 new Optare Solo single deckers, 6 new Alexander Dennis Enviro400D double deckers and 4 Fiat Ducato mini-buses in service as well as inheriting about 42 former Connex Transport Jersey Limited vehicles. In May 2015 five Scania N230UD OmniCity double deckers were transferred from CT Plus, London that were new in February 2010 to operate Transport for London contracted services. Two of them are seen here outside Liberation Station (bus station) in St. Helier. 2909 (J127201) was previously registered YR59 NPE and 2911 (J 127203) was previously registered YR59 NPO. Note the Public Vehicle Plate (PSV Char-a-Banc) carried on the rear which is issued by the licensing authorities for the States of Jersey. The main bus station (Liberation Station) stands behind the building behind the buses. Opened in 2007 it can however only accommodate vehicles up to 3.5 metres high so the stands for services on which the double deckers are employed are located on the roadway outside.

Friday 9 August 2019 – A Scania N230UD OmniCity of Libertybus seen leaving St. Aubin’s bound for St. Helier on the island of Jersey. Libertybus (CT Plus Jersey Limited) is part of the London based HCT Group and was awarded the contract to operate the public bus network on Jersey in January 2013. As far as I can say the only bus I saw wearing this livery for Airtel and Vodafone was 2911 (J 127203) that was previously registered YR59 NPO in England.

August 2019 – Tickets issued by Libertybus (CT Plus Jersey Limited), the bus operator on Jersey. A simple fare structure charging £2.30 per single cash ride which is reduced to £2.00 if the fare is paid by contactless bank card. On the left is a cash payment ticket (for one passenger) and on the right a contactless payment ticket (this being for two passengers). With the simple fare structure it is not necessary to use the bank card to ‘tap out’ when alighting. The ticket on the left was issued on Optare Solo 1715 and that on the right was issued on SCC (Caetano) bodied Dennis Dart 1158. In addition to these cash and contactless one ride options there are also day and multi-day tickets available which offer further fare reductions.

First coach away is Tantivy Blue Coach Tours 1 (J 82047), a Portuguese built Camo Minerva bodied Renault PP180 that had been new to Blue Coach Tours in August 1996. All but one of the other vehicles, the obvious Jersey Bus and Boat Tours former London Transport Park Royal bodied Leyland 7RT RTL326 (J 8903 formerly KGU 284), are also operated Tantivy Blue Coach Tours and are, from left to right: 2 (J 82049), a Portuguese built Camo Minerva bodied Renault PP180 that had been new to Blue Coach Tours in August 1996. 16 (J 24573), a Wadham Stringer bodied Leyland Swift that had been new to Blue Coach Tours in April 1989. 5 (J 73973), a Wadham Stringer bodied Leyland Swift that had been new to Pioneer Coaches as their number 12 in August 1991. 61 (J 14616), a Leicester Carriage Builders ‘Islander’ bodied Cannon Hi-Line that had been new to Pioneer Coaches as their number 4 in September 1998. At the far end but obscured was 201 (J 93500), a Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart, one of a handful of buses in its mainly coach oriented fleet. It had formerly been number 9 in the JMT fleet although had originally been new to Isle of Man National Transport as their 72 (CMN 72X) in July 1994. The ferries themselves, one a conventional ferry and one a fast style catamaran, can be seen on the far left beyond two more Tantivy Blue coaches. (Which are Wadham Stringer bodied Leyland Swifts 10 (J 48388) and 12 (J 89771))

Tuesday 6 August 2019 – Tantivy Blue Coach Tours is Jersey’s largest coach operator. Coach 60 (J 12050) is a Leicester Carriage Builders ‘Islander’ bodied Cannon Hi-Line that had been new to Pioneer Coaches as their number 3 registered J 491 in May 1999. Tantivy Blue acquired the Pioneer business in November 2000. It would appear that this is a coach I travelled on when I visited Jersey in September 1999. At the time it was operated by Pioneer Coaches as J 491, such a low number that I think it would have been a cherished plate. It was re-registered J 12050 in June 2000. Standing behind is Signature Coaches 10 (J 66449) a similar style coach that had been new to the London Borough of Redbridge in May 2000 registered W991 VGW. They were parked on a closed section of the Esplanade during the ‘Battle of the Flowers’ carnival event.
