Creature Comforts characters on bus advert - 22 May 1993 (192-30A)

Saturday 22 May 1993 (approx. 1307) – Aardman Animations became famous for their ‘Wallace and Gromit’ series and ‘Creature Comforts’ animated characters which appeared on television and in films.

Not a real window, this is part of the ‘T shaped’ advert for Eastern Electricity applied to the blank panel of the bus where the stairs to the upper deck are. The picture appears to give the bus an additional window and includes two of the characters. A number of Eastern Counties Omnibus Company buses carried adverts from this campaign which also ran on television.

Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol VR VR307 (PRC 853X) was loading at King Street, Mildenhall bound for Bury St Edmunds on service 155. It had been new to Trent Motor Traction as their 853 in October 1981. ECOC had bought numerous similar buses new during the production run and then in the 1980s and 1990s started to acquire various secondhand examples to supplement the fleet.
