The bus stop flags fixed to the brown streetlight pole are Stagecoach East (upper) and Whippet Coaches (lower). The timetable display if for Whippet service U.

The solar powered electronic display shows details of imminent departures by services of both companies.

The broad stone gutter along the kerbside in the photographs is part of Hobson’s Conduit, a watercourse built in the early 1600s by Thomas Hobson to bring fresh water into the city from springs near Great Shelford. Just beyond the brown pole the conduit is ‘bridged’ with stone slabs for pedestrians and bus passengers to cross the trench.
