Theobold’s Coaches MT60 WKA at Fiveways, Barton Mills - 28 May 2022 (P1110991)

Saturday 28 May 2022 (0926) – Theobold’s Coaches of Luton MT60 WKA seen heading eastbound on the A11 at Fiveways, Barton Mills. It is a Neoplan Tourliner N2216/3SHDL that had been new in January 2011 to Weardale Motor Services, Stanhope. The strange grey shape on the body side appears to be body filler perhaps after a minor incident as yet to be painted.

It was the second of two Theobold’s coaches to pass through within a few minutes. The first one (Y6 TBC) was operating the combined holiday express/day excursion from Dunstable and Luton to Great Yarmouth. This coach may have been a duplicate or may have been on an unrelated assignment.

For some years Theobold’s has operated to Great Yarmouth on Saturdays. For 2022 the dates of operation are 28 May, 4 June, 23 and 30 July, 6, 13, 20 and 27 August. As well as carrying holiday passengers who stay at the coast for a week or more the coach is also advertised as a day excursion. It would give day visitors an arrival at about 1130 returning about 1630.

(P.S. - A fellow enthusiast in Great Yarmouth, who photographed Y6 TBC and was shown around that vehicle by the driver, said that MT60 WKA wasn't seen there so perhaps it wasn't a duplicate for the express/excursion).
