Lynx (Coastal Red) 26 (YJ60 KAX) in King’s Lynn - 14 Jan 2022 (P1100474)
Friday 14 January 2022 (1031) – Lynx (Coastal Red) 26 (YJ60 KAX) seen leaving King’s Lynn bus station on ‘Coastliner’ service 36 to Hunstanton and presumably beyond. An Optare Tempo X1200 that was new to Transdev Blazefield owned Lancashire United (1305) in September 2010

Lynx provides a bus every 15 minutes between King’s Lynn and Hunstantion featuring minor route differences. Each hour there are two service 34 trips (taking 56 minutes), one service 35 trip (taking 58 minutes and serving the visitor centre and Sandringham House) and one ‘Coastliner’ service 36 trip (a more direct service along the main A149 road taking 50 minutes). The latter continues to Wells-next-the-Sea before turning inland to travel to Walsingham and Fakenham.

Lynx commenced operation of the ’Coasthopper’ service in 2018 following the withdrawal of services and retrenchment by Stagecoach/Norfolk Green. The service had previously been operated as the ‘Coasthopper’ and ran through to resorts east of Wells. Sanders Coaches of Holt took over the latter section.

A fleet list I have dated November 2021 shows quite a standardised operational fleet comprising 29 Optare Tempo single deckers (plus 8 more in reserve) whilst the double deck fleet comprises 7 Wright Eclipse Geminis (plus 2 more in reserve) and 2 ADL Enviro400 MMC.

Flanking the Tempo are vehicles of another operator that expanded after the Stagecoach withdrawal is Go to Town - the trading name of WNCT (West Norfolk Community Transport).

On the right is 1502 (AU67 CVX), a 15 seat Mercedes-Benz mini-coach employed on rural village services worked by smaller vehicles. The two leading digits of fleet number indicate the seating capacity. On the left is 3703 (SK68 TNE), a Wright StreetLite WF new to in September 2018.
