Ambassador Travel 916 (C916 BPW) passing through Red Lodge – 12 Aug 1989 (94-5)

Saturday 12 August 1989 (1130) - Ambassador Travel MCW Metroliner 916 (C916 BPW), new in March 1986, seen travelling through Red Lodge when working the 0930 London (Victoria) to Great Yarmouth National Express ‘Rapide’ service 599.

‘Rapide’ services featured vehicles with toilet and catering facilities and made less frequent refreshment/toilet stops (if indeed making any at all) and therefore reduced the journey times. In the past coaches plying the London-Norfolk services would have stopped at one of the catering establishments along this section of the A11 through Red Lodge but 916 motors on.
