Marconi and a trio of Fords Coaches in Chelmsford - 6 Dec 2019 (P1060173)

Friday 6 December 2019 – Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937), famous for his pioneering work in radio transmissions, is celebrated with a sculpture in Chelmsford the town where he established his ‘Wireless Telegraph and Signal Company’ in 1898.

In the background are three coaches operated by Fords Coaches of Althorne parked outside the Civic Theatre having brought school children to a performance. They are YN14 FXX (a VDL Synergy bodied Scania K400 new in January 2014), EU17 VDL (a VDL Futura new in March 2017) and YN07 LHE (a Berkhof bodied Scania K114 new in May 2007 to Burtons Coaches of Haverhill).
