Nameplates on preserved former Maidstone and District 5385 (LKP 385P), an Alexander bodied Volvo Ailsa B55 that was new in December 1975. This model has a front engine which is mounted longitudinally alongside the driver.

M&D was a National Bus Company subsidiary and the NBC 'double N' logo is carried as well as that of Ailsa. Ailsa, a name which originates from the Viking language, was based in Scotland being 75% owned by Volvo.
