Jersey bus route map - Summer 1999
JMT Limited grew to become the largest bus operator on the island of Jersey having taken over the services of a number of smaller operators during its existence between 1923 and 2002.

Over that time the ownership of the company changed a number of times. The Jersey Heritage website give more details and may be seen via this link:

At the time of my visit the company was registered as JMT (1987) Limited trading as Jersey bus.

In 2002 the system changed. In September 2002 the States of Jersey awarded a contract to French owned Connex to operate the island’s bus service network. Initially it was for seven years but this was extended with a further three. The Connex Group formed Connex Jersey that traded as Mybus.

After its loss of the network under the new arrangements Jersey bus, using its Tantivy Coaches licence operated a range of services branded Easybus which linked the main bays and tourist attractions. However, these only lasted for a few seasons before being withdrawn.

In February 2012 it was announced that the British company HCT Group (derived from Hackney Community Transport based in East London) would take over the contract. HCT operated as Libertybus taking over on 2 January 2013. As with Connex, the contract term is initially for seven years with an option to extend for a further three.
