Hammond Coaches, Lakenheath - Feb 1985 8-14

February 1985 - Hammond's Coaches was based in Lakenheath and operated from the site now occupied by the Doctor's Surgery. This photograph shows three Plaxton bodied Ford coaches (which may have been their whole fleet). Nearest the camera is WCX 242V new to Wood's of Mirfield in August 1979, then MJT 51P new to Excelsior, Bournemouth in July 1976. Third from the right is what may be a JNK-N registered coach new in the Spring of 1975 (perhaps to either Shearings, Richmond's of Barley or Williams of Emsworth). The red and white bus was Strachans bodied Ford GOR 240K operated by Winchmore Furniture to convey staff between their Mildenhall and Newmarket factories amongst other things. It had been new to the London Borough of Barking in June 1972.
