Saturday 4 July 2015 (1416) – Drake Street in Rochdale was once considered the most prestigious shopping thoroughfares in the town along which Metrolink trams now travel to reach the town centre. Near Fleece Street the double track goes to single for a short distance prior to reaching the tram station in Smith Street. Tram set 3020 is about to enter the single track section.
The single track section is necessary along the roadway which crosses the covering of the River Roch and to have double track would have required significant structural strengthening.
