Migration, Day 1: Rounding up the Horses
The 500 strong herd consisted of a mixture of camel, horse, sheep, goat, cow and yak. The different animal type tended to walk together as a group. Here one of the herders rounds up some horses that have wandered off course.

The two Russian UAZ 'Purgon' 4x4 support vehicles that travelled with us taking our luggage, bedding, and other paraphernalia from camp to camp. These vehicles were incredible and were able to tackle just about any surface and gradient.

With night time temperatures as low as -40 deg C, a little extra heat is needed to start this motorcycle. Motorbikes weren't used on the animal migration - this one went forward with the family and all the household belongings.
