Lichens on hazel copse

Lichens on hazel copse
IDs would be useful - reading up on Atlantic hazel woodlands and their rich bio-diversity, I was surprised to find that coppicing was considered a negative action, as it had an adverse impact on lichens etc., whereas I have always believed that coppicing extends the life of the tree, and of course produces straight "wands" for use in fencing, and so on. I suspect the advice was written from a Lichen standpoint, rather than what is good for the hazel itself, perhaps.
