La construction de l'église Saint-Denis-d'Anjou est originellement de style roman et remonte au 12e siècle. L'ensemble est bâti sur un socle de roches avec une position haute d'utilité défensive. Le bâtiment est par la suite agrandi au 16e siècle dans le style gothique. Elle renferme d'impressionnantes freques murales médiévales et présente de beaux vitraux anciens. COLOURS IN COMPETITION. The construction of the Saint-Denis-d'Anjou church is originally in Romanesque style and dates from the 12th century. It was built on a rock pedestal with a high defensive position. In the 16th century the building was extended in the Gothic style. It contains impressive medieval wall paintings and shows beautiful old stained glass windows. FARBWETTBEWERB. Der Bau der Kirche Saint-Denis-d'Anjou ist ursprünglich im romanischen Stil und stammt aus dem 12. Jh. Sie ist auf einem Felssockel mit einer hohen Verteidigungsposition gebaut. Im 16. Jh. wurde das Gebäude dann im gotischen Stil erweitert. Es enthält beeindruckende mittelalterliche Wandmalereien und präsentiert schöne alte Buntglasfenster.

Saint-Julien-des-Roncerais, petite chapelle au milieu de nul part est construit en 1450. Elle est citée dans les anciens textes en 1451 comme "capelliana sancti Juliani".

HBM In 1458, the French king Charles VII allowed Jean II (son of Charles de Vendôme), to build a castle, the barbican was built only in 1497-1498. Since then, the castle was left mainly intact and the original architecture preserved. Today, you can see the castle of Lassay on a French postage stamp.

Sometimes a building withstands time and appears today without any significant change: this is the case with Lassay Castle. Built in the 14th/15th centuries, the torments of history have spared it. It escaped destruction, invasion and other religious wars and has preserved its 8 massive towers, its magnificent barbican and: the drawbridge still works! A rare example of military architecture from this period. BANCS DEVANT CONTEXTE HISTORIQUE. Parfois un édifice résiste au temps et apparaît aujourd'hui sans changement notable : c'est le cas du château-fort de Lassay. Construit aux 14/15ème siècles, les tortures de l'histoire l'ont épargné. Il a échappé aux destructions, invasions et autres guerres de religion et a conservé ses 8 tours massives, sa magnifique barbacane et : le pont-levis fonctionne toujours ! Rare exemple d'architecture militaire de cette époque. BÄNKE VOR HISTORISCHEM HINTERGRUND. Manchmal hält ein Gebäude der Zeit stand und erscheint heute ohne nennenswerte Veränderung: das ist der Fall bei der Burg von Lassay. Im 14./15. Jh. erbaut, haben die Torturen der Geschichte sie verschont. Sie entging der Zerstörung, Invasion und anderen Religionskriegen und hat ihre 8 massiven Türme bewahrt, ihre prächtige Barbakane und : die Zugbrücke funktioniert noch immer! Ein seltenes Beispiel militärischer Architektur dieser Zeit.

Cette chapelle possède le tombeau de St. Eloan (un ermite du 7° s. venu d'Irlande en Bretagne). C'est un sarcophage en granite partiellement encastré en travers du mur sud du chœur de la chapelle (voir PiP). La chapelle actuelle remplace un édifice plus ancien. Sa construction fait suite à l'enquête menée en 1646 sur "L'eau miraculeuse du sarcophage" : en effet, au début du 17° s, après avoir ramassé la statue du saint gisant à terre, une femme lui demande une récompense. Le lendemain, le sarcophage du saint se retrouve rempli d'eau et de nombreuses guérisons s'y réalisent... COUNTRY CHAPEL. This chapel has the tomb of St. Eloan (a 7th C. hermit who came from Ireland to Brittany). It is a granite sarcophagus partially embedded across the south wall of the chancel of the chapel (see PiP). The current chapel replaces an older building. Its construction follows the investigation carried out in 1646 on the "miraculous water of the sarcophagus": in fact, at the beginning of the 17th C., after having picked up the statue of the saint lying on the ground, a woman asked him for a reward. The next day, the saint's sarcophagus is filled with water and many healings take place there... KAPELLE AUF DEM LAND. In dieser Kapelle befindet sich das Grab des Hl. Eloan (Einsiedler aus dem 7. Jh., der aus Irland in die Bretagne kam). Es handelt sich um einen Granitsarkophag, der teilweise in die Südwand des Chores der Kapelle eingelassen ist (siehe PiP) Die heutige Kapelle wurde auf einem älteren Gebäude erbaut. Sein Bau folgt der Untersuchung des "wundersamen Sarkophag-Wassers" im Jahr 1646 : Anfang des 17. Jh. bat eine Frau ihn, nachdem sie die am Boden liegende Statue des Heiligen aufgehoben hatte, um eine Belohnung. Am nächsten Tag ist der Sarkophag des Heiligen mit Wasser gefüllt und viele Heilungen finden dort statt...

Abbaye de l'Epau : le logis de l'abbé, construit au XVIè siècle, on peut voir la date de 1528 inscrite sur le linteau d'une fenêtre. Autumn light (Epau Abbey): the abbot's home, built in the 16th C., you can see the date 1528 inscribed on the lintel of a window. Herbstlicht (Abtei von Epau) : das Haus des Abtes, erbaut im 16. Jh., man kann das Datum 1528 auf einem Fenstersturz sehen.
