Often over looked but just as lovely :)
Caterpillar Building a Home
Apodia bifractella Egg Laying

In Common Fleabane. Local species, very secretive, only seen in afternoon to evening, and doesn't come to light. Probably under recoreded as we saw at least 4 this day.

Fleabane was the star of the day as we were looking for more of the rare moth..lol
This is a nice little moth as well.

Tiny but lovely moth, bad angle on this because it was so small, I could get either its eyes or its ...em wing tips in focus...lol
New Slender Oak

Golden-brown Tubic
Dark Fleabane Neb
|
|
Need to get this one verified but we're pretty sure of the ID.
Nationally Scarce (Nb) and a bit late in the year so we'll see.
Update: We have confirmed the ID, after finding more of these 'feeding' on Common Fleabane, turns out they were laying eggs not feeding, they are infact 'Dark Fleabane Neb Apodia bifractella ' Quite common but very secretive, usually only active in the evenings and don't come to light usually. So all in all a good record.

Propably too worn to get an id, but the family I suspected this guy to be in, that red coloration just doesn't fit. Any help appreciated.
Update: Possibly Ruddy Streak Tachystola acroxantha very worn.
Phyllonorycter harrisella - White Oak Midge
|
|
Dark Smudge
|
|
Nationally Scarce (Nb) or possibly under recorded.
Update: Have heard back from Colin Pratt, who confirms ID and this species has not been recorded in East Sussex since 1967! We had three recorded on the night.
Cydia amplana
|
|
Another migrant we have had loads of in the area this year.
