This is a reading lamp I bought at a thrift store, and it had an energy saving bulb in it. We now have a proper moth trap we had built which uses a 40w Actinic (bug light, very blue light).
In the talks I do, people often ask how we catch them, do you need a special light, and I tell them no! You can use any kind of light to attract moths, a lamp, patio light, those lights you hang on the bonnet to have light to fix your car etc.... and a white sheet is helpful.
