BARNSLEY CHRONICLE 22 JULY 1916 Known At: 22nd July 1916
Private G. W. Heptinstall, Royal Scottish Fusiliers, has succumbed to wounds received on the battlefield on France on July 3rd. The deceased, who was 20 years of age last February, was wounded at Loos on September 25th 1915. His death took place at No.5 Clearing Station, France. Private Heptinstall was a well-known Barnsley lad. Prior to joining the Forces he worked as a miner at Rockingham Colliery, and as a boy he attended the Baptist Chapel, but latterly worshipped at St Peter's Church. His home was at 46, Commercial Street, Barnsley.
