It was fun, but they are just not team players when it comes to the other farm birds. Found them a good home, and we even got paid for them. So Godric, Margery and the three remaining goslings were bagged up (no box big enough) and moved to Agnes.
We got a wrought iron bench and table set at a yard sale for a few bucks. Our Canadian HelpXers Gavin and Ally ground it with a wire brush, applied Rust Kill, then painted it.
Gavin cooked us a great pasta sauce with chorizo sausage instead of mince. He and Ally sat down to a romantic Saturday dinner... but it is "battery Saturdy" so...
Gavin removed the window, put in a stud, put in silver insulation foil, then pink fibreglass insulation bats, and new cement sheeting on both sides of the wall. Here he is halfway through.
Together with our Canadian HelpXers, Ally & Gavin, we made fresh cheese curds, made fresh chips and... er, we made gravy with Gravox. It was better than the component parts and was just delicious. I can see why it's a Canadian comfort food.
After a big plate full of poutine, I was about to go for seconds when I heard Dolly Parton's voice in my head singing (to the time of Jolene):
"Poutine, poutine, poutine, poutiiiiiine!
Please don't eat more just because you caaan!"
But I did anyway because it was so good. No regrets.
On our way home from Saturday morning shopping and saw a couple of neighbours' cars by the road near our farm. We stopped to see if they needed help. It was an injured koala that they had been watching over for an hour.
