Today we hatched 5 chicks in our mini incubator, 3 x Australorp and 2 x Rhode Island Red. I'd like to keep a RIR hen for our flock if there is one, but otherwise these destined to move into a roomy apartment in the freezer in about 6 months time. I try not to think about it too much when they're at this stage.
