Fountains Abbey
The "West Range" of Fountains Abbey, Cellarium with dormitory of Lay-Brothers (The Great Cloister). The lay brother was not a full-fledged monk. He took religious vows, but focused on a life of manual work, allowing the monks to spend more time in scholarship and contemplation.

So beautiful, Berny! It gives this structure something of a "vegetal" air, as if we were walking under the canopy of a giant fern or a palm grove in the jungle, with the light filtering down through the leaves to the forest floor and the colors ranging from green to earthy browns.
