HFF to you All !:-) Con i Papaveri in città-

The Renaissance walls of Padua from the first half of the 16th century are almost entirely preserved, for a circuit of about 11 km. with 20 bastions and 6 doors.
Here we are at Porta Savonarola, a couple of steps from my house.
Antonio Savonarola was the leader of the Paduans against the tyranny of Ezzelino III da Romano, defeating him in 1256 in the battle of Arlesega (a town between Padua and Vicenza).
In memory of this event, the ancient city gate on the road to Vicenza was rebuilt in 1530 by Giovanni Maria Falconetto in his honour.
by Wiki for the exact dates ( never been so good at that :-) from and my own knowledge of history of my city.
Grazie a TUTTI.
Buon e felice weekend !!!
