1957 BMW Isetta 250 - PVS 686

1957 BMW Isetta 250 - PVS 686
The Isetta was initially an Italian-designed microcar, but it went on to be built under license in a number of different countries: including Spain, Belgium, France, Brazil, Germany and here in the UK.

However, most agree that it was the German manufacturer, BMW, who made the Isetta its own.

They redesigned the powerplant around a BMW motorcycle engine and also re-engineered much of the car, so much so that none of the parts between a BMW Isetta Moto Coupe and an Iso Isetta are interchangeable. The first BMW Isetta appeared in April 1955.

Because of its egg shape and bubble-like windows, the Isetta became affectionately known as a bubble car, a name later given to other similar vehicles.

Good Shot,
Bubble cars are not that easy to photograph, or so I find.

Esther, where have you been - lol! ;)

Let me increase your exposure further, first with a later BMW Isetta 300 and then a shot of the competition in the form of a Heinkel Kabine:

Lovely shot, Paul. This car is the same age as me. The bodywork is in better condition though...

I'm a few years younger Jim, but know just how you feel having seen many a car the same age as me at shows and had those same thoughts! :(

I guess though we need to look on the bright side and consider how many haven't made it this far and have already been broken for scrap - lol! ;)
