The size of the square citadel is gigantic, with an approximately 10 kilometre long, 6 metre high fortification wall and a 4 metre deep, more than 20 metre wide moat surrounding the site and the existing buildings.

Da ist spontan aus meinem Langzeitgedächtnis folgende Meldung aus der heißen Phase des Vietnamkrieges aufgetaucht:
Als der Vietcong / die Nordvietnamesen vorübergehend diese Stadt besetzt hatten wohnte in Hue noch die Mutter des letzten Vietnamesischen Kaisers. Obwohl der Vietcong / die Nordvietnamesen ansonsten brutal vorgingen sollen sie die alte Dame mit einem extra Doppelposten / Ehrenwache abgesichert haben. Kann das sein, dass dies stimmt?

Ich liebe den Stil und das Design dieser Gebäude. So attraktiv - die PiPs sind auch großartig - besonders die des Wassergrabens mit erstaunlich verrückten Pflastersteinen an den Rändern. Die Größe dieser Zitadelle ist einfach erstaunlich.
