HFF from the entrance gate to the Aareschlucht gorge .
The Aare Gorge is located in the Bernese Oberland between Meiringen and Innertkirchen. The gorge increases the flow rate considerably. The Aare leaves the gorge at almost 12 km/h.
The meltwater of the glacial Aar glacier notched seven gorges in this rock bar. Today's Aare Gorge is the youngest of the various transverse and longitudinal gorges. The length of the Aare gorge is 1400 metres. At its narrowest point, the gorge is one metre wide; the highest side wall rises 180 metres above the river.
