Finland, Helsinki, Monument to Emperor Alexander the Second on Senate Square

The monument was created by sculptors Walter Runeberg and Johannes Takanen and opened in 1894, in memory of the restoration of Finnish parliamentarism by Emperor Alexander II.

The emperor is depicted in the form of a Finnish Guards officer. At the foot of the pedestal, there are figures that embody “Law” (Lex), “Peace” (Pax), “Enlightenment” (Lux), and “Labour” (Labor).
