Indonesia, The Dragon from the Island of Komodo
The Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) is a species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca and some another. It is the largest living species of lizard, growing to a maximum length of 3 metres (10 ft) and weighing up to approximately 70 kilograms (150 lb).
These lizards dominate the ecosystems in which they live. It has been claimed that they have a venomous bite; there are two glands in the lower jaw which secrete several toxic proteins. But their importance in killing the victim is not significant.
The diet of adult Komodo dragons mainly consists of large ungulate mammals, such as the Timor deer, but they also do not refuse other prey, including their relatives, as well as carrion. Komodo dragons also occasionally attack humans.
