Evidence of stained glass can be found back to the 10th Century. With the expansion of British castles at the beginning of 1800 also medieval stained glass windows came as a commodity in fashion. This attracted the interest of glass artists on the then-forgotten ancient techniques to learn again. So large-scale non-ferrous Gala window created by refinements in the production and for example by larger kilns. Scenes and details were painted (stained) onto the glass with black and brown paint. Here you will also see flashed glass in different colours.

you will find an overview of stained glass windows in British Churches under www.stainedglassrecords.org
