Excellent. As you will now, they are often called June bugs. I suspect they were once more commonly seen at dusk in June rather than May (certainly in my childhood). Perhaps global warming is the cause. But then they have also been called May bugs for centuries so might THAT name have been given in the 14th and 15th centuries before the mini Ice Age?

I don't know the answer Andy, they seem to be called either, perhaps its a north south thing where they emerge earlier in the southern counties?
