Brydon Lagoon began as a sewage settling pond in 1963 in the city of Langley and was used until 1975. After Langley City joined Greater Vancouver Regional sewage system, the Langley Field Naturalists began to take an interest in the lagoon as an area with high wildlife value. They petitioned Langley City to designate the area as a Nature Park which occurred in 1985. The Langley Field Naturalists, using a grant from the Public Conservation Assistance Fund, began their work of enhancing the habitat and building a nature trail around the lagoon.
